Abu Bakkar Bashir Released

An interesting story that may be worth following. Abu Bakkar Bashir, the alleged ring-leader of al-Qa'eda affiliated Indonesian Jemaah Islamiyya, was released from prison Wednesday, where he served 26 months on charges stemming from the conspiracy relative to the 2002 Bali bombings. Bashir, an instructor, religious leader, and founder of the al-Mukmin boarding school, has long been accused by Australian and American authorities as being the ideological and -to a certain extent -operational eminence gris to the organization.

According to Indonesian authorities however, Bashir will not be followed by the state security apparatus because to do so would, according to them, be in violation of his human rights. For more see the Daily Telegraph’s story. It should be interesting to follow.
